Secret confession time, do you ever buy a candle for the design of it’s tin? Kind of like when you buy a bottle of wine for the label design. I have been known to buy a candle that was just ok, because it was in a fabulous tin. That is because I can see the potential in the tin! Once the candle has burned, you can use the tin for a bunch of different things. I prefer to use them as succulent planters. They make great last minute hostess gifts, but they also look adorable on a book shelf, desk, windowsill, etc.
Supplies:
• Butter knife
• Clear Rustoleum (I like the gloss finish, but this is up to you!)
• Hammer and small nail
• Hand full of small rocks
• Succulent
• Moss
Step 1: Once the candle is finished, put it in the freezer for the day.

Step 2: After a day take the candle tin out of the freezer. Lay a dish towel down on the counter. Turn the tin over and hit the bottom of it. The wax, now frozen should fall out. If you need to help it along use a butter knife around the edges. Once the wax is out, give the tin a good washing and dry it thoroughly.

Step 3: Turn the tin back over, and using a small nail gently hammer a hole into the bottom of the tin.

Step 4: Take the tin outside, and on a protected surface spray it with Rustoleum. Leave the tin to dry for a day.

Step 5: Your tin is ready for planting! Fill a little layer of rocks in the bottom (it helps with excess water), and fill the rest with soil. Next make a hole with your finger in the soil for the succulent. Once planted, place some decorative moss around the top. It adds a little something extra, and the moss comes in so many beautiful colors!

This is sure to put a smile on any friend, teacher, co-worker’s face!
