Spring is here, finally! I live in Southern California, and this has been quite a winter. I really enjoyed all the cozy rainy days, but I can’t wait to see photosynthesis do it’s thing. The Orange tree in the yard is just starting to blossom, and the scent instantly boosts my mood.
I wanted to share a few things that came to my mind while I was snuggled up on the sofa, looking out the rainy window.
Pink Teacups

Whenever the flowers appear; I want to have a tea party! I like to collect teacups with vintage florals or pastel colors. They are great for drinking tea out of, but they also look adorable with a couple floating flowers.
Victorian House and Gardens

There’s something romantic about Spring, the scents, the weather, the overall mood evoke a retro feel harkening to a day when men were chivalrous, and women could take naps in peace on a chaise lounge. I love to walk by our local old town neighborhoods and marvel at the landscaping, porches, and hanging planted baskets. I day dream that I live there, and I’m enjoying a lavender lemonade while reading on the porch, a little cat in my lap.
Herb Garden

Every year I start an herb garden in Spring, fingers crossed, it will last through summer. Unfortunately, that does not happen most of the time, because we have a fair amount of heat waves in July, August, and September. Regardless, I still get a couple months of fresh herbs to use in cooking, flavor water or cocktails, and add to homemade bath products.
Charleston Front Doors

I haven’t been to Charleston in a couple years, but I always think about it this time of year. The colorful houses (rainbow row), the painted front doors, the beautiful window boxes, crisp white trim, and the food! This door doesn’t just symbolize a color, it symbolizes a state of mind.
Al Fresco Dinner

Eating dinner outside is magical. I put on a little madeleine Peyroux or Norah Jones on, throw a tablecloth on our shabby iron table, and light a couple candles. I use the fancy plates for dinner, and cloth napkins to complete the look. It is kind of a production, but it is the best kind. An evening in with your love, making memories, is always a good idea.
Cake with Flowers

There’s something so organic about dressing a cake with natural items. Whether it’s berries, herbs, or roses, it adds this beautiful wholesome touch. Also, it is a crowd pleaser for whatever event you take it to.
Fancy Coupe Cocktail

Cocktails always look amazing in coupe glasses. They add a level of elegance that has a bit of a French royal flair to it.
Pink Skies

Sunsets this time of year are so beautiful. It might be because you can actually enjoy them as the sun sets a little later. I love to go out, and see the cast of pinks and peaches across the white fluffy clouds.
Succulents in the Spring

I always know when Spring has sprung, because my succulents in the yard start to bloom. I especially love these Aeonium Schwarzkopf Succulents. I planted them four years ago, and they really have taken off. Every year around March or April these cones of yellow flowers appear, and the bees have never been happier. I wish I knew where these bees go, and who I could see about getting a jar of honey!
Picnics

Nothing says Spring to me more than a picnic. I love the idea of a picnic in Spring or Fall. It’s such an easy date idea, and a great way to discover a park in your neighborhood. I like to pack some tasty sandwiches, pasta salad, canned wine, and a berry crumble! This is a great time to read, talk to your partner, and enjoy the overall day.
