Love is for the birds….literally! Show your feathered neighbors some love this season with a little homemade treat. It is super simple, and could attract some really interesting varieties. Soon you’ll be singing, “My bird treats bring all the birds to the yard, and they’re like, it’s better than yours….” Ok I’ll stop, but you get the point.

Supplies:
- 3 cups sunflower seeds (without the shell).
- 1 cup bark butter bits.
- 1 cup organic raisins.
- Silicon heart mold.
- Baking sheet.
- 1 box of gelatin.
- 1/2 cup of hot water.
- Twine
Step 1: In a medium bowl, add hot water and gelatin. Mix thoroughly and ensure it is combined. Then quickly stir in the seed, bark butter, raisin mix and fully combine.
Step 2: Put the silicon heart mold on a level baking sheet. Spoon birdseed mixture into each heart mold, and let it set for 10 to 15 minutes. Then with a chopstick, make a tiny puncture hole in the top area of the heart.

Step 3: Place the baking sheet in the refrigerator for about an hour to harden completely. Don’t worry if the hole you made with chopstick closes up. You can gently re-poke the hole.

Step 4: String the twine through the hole and hang on a tree! You are ready to watch the birds enjoy the feast. With any luck you will acquire some new aviary admirers!

Special note: I recommend collecting the twine once your birdy friends are finished. You don’t want it to end up hurting an animal later on.
